Rules…ah, but there are none

It’s OK to combine:
Tiffany jewelry with ABC Trading Co bling
St John capris with a WhiteHouse/Black Market tee
Chinese Laundry patent pumps from DSW with actually several outfits
one of Isaac’s denim tailored jackets with all of the above
a Fossil black and chain belt (the likes of which you’ve never owned before, style-wise) with the dazzle bling
Hanes instead of Spanx (get with the program-you don’t have to pay Spanx prices and there’s also Assets at Target but I didn’t have time to get there, too) underneath it all
and, Aveda product with LOreal hairspray (which won’t work anyway but it’s not because of the brand – it’s simply your stubborn free-to-be-me hair)
It is OK, but weird, to take all day putting your outfit together.
It’s also OK at a charity event to:
take your camera with you
use a small evening purse your Mom gave you (tres retro)
dance with HM and put your head on his shoulder
Further, it is OK to have a kick ass evening with HM and friends, even if you bid on a Philippe Starck combo table-and-stool and WIN!!! (which means your next two freelance paychecks are already spoken for, but that’s OK). Guy Phillips made us laugh and Ralph Butler made us dance. Russo’s made us eat and although no one made us go to the open bar, it was there ’til 11 p.m.
It was the Bluejean Ball “Denim and Dazzle” for the benefit of the Sherwood Forest Camp. HM and I have added that to our “do something local” list. Thank you, Denibelle!
