Holiday Books … one more thing about Nite B4 Xmas
December 12, 2008 § 3 Comments
This is a 1915 copyright edition of THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS published on linen, as children’s picture books often were.
It was my father’s book. I framed it for protection tho’ I often wouldn’t mind having it ‘open’ to turn the pages. (The framer misunderstood; I had requested an opening at the top so that I could slide the book in and out of the frame. But that’s OK.)
This picture actually goes with my entry two posts ago, about this wonderful verse that has become a tradition, albeit sometimes perceived as clicheed.
This book, though, which I “hang up” during the Holiday season, reminds me that it transcends, if not thought, then certainly time.
What a wonderful thing to still have! Have a Merry Xmas!
That is a beauty! And it was your Dad’s, and on linen – how wonderful. I have quite a collection of this verse; there have been so many wonderful illustrators through the years. I have never seen this one – Thanks!!
How beautiful — and how smart to frame it. I love the cover art. Gorgeous!
