Time out for a little TV … ABOUT WRITING

January 12, 2009 § 5 Comments

This made me laugh. It’s a piece from the FAMILY GUY.
No, I don’t watch it. It ‘s on when Snarl and his crew are around.
But this dialogue ( a monologue, actually) between Stewie (the baby) and Brian (the family dog) got me. I stopped in the doorway to watch it the first time. (It comes up now and then in an episode.)

Stewie is ribbing Brian about the book he’s supposedly writing. It’s funny cuz it’s not true. It’s funny cuz it could so easily be true.

Stick through it to the end to see Brian’s reaction.

OK, maybe it’s a writer thing.
Yeah.

The things I miss without tv! Had never heard of this before, but loved it, loved the escalating pitch of the little guy’s voice, loved Brian’s reaction. Just perfect.

Hysterical! I think ya gotta be a writer to appreciate it fully. I’ll have to ask my son if he watches this…

    What is really funny?
That you and Snarl act this out on occasion.
    But yes, it is funny.
One can relate, even if they are an essay writer!

Anno – It’s pretty much the best of the show, this part. You’re not missing anything, altho the show can be so rude or outrageous, you might laugh in spite of yourself.!

Q – oh dear, what did your son say – that it’s a great show, or awful? But it is, as you say, an excellent “writer thing.”

Laylou- Yeah, your brother is pretty funny on this one. Especially now that he’s a writer, too!!!

This little short makes me lol. And this is why I don’t tell certain people about writing.
