The Sublime of the Ancient Beagle…

December 20, 2010 § 12 Comments

While we run around shopping; wrapping; singing, working; driving in circles wondering where the store entrance or parking lot exit is; stuffing the down comforter into the duvet (what the heck kind of an exercise is that, anyway?; while we write clever tags, try to tie knots that don’t slip even tho’ the ribbon is satinesque; through it all….the beagle finds solace in something soft, and this time, with a holiday message!

Coming soon: the beagle explains why Oh has been inconsistent in her blog presence, er, presents, nope, that’s presence.

Happy Holidays, all!

Awwww, sometimes its finding solace in something soft that means the most. Glad that the beagle is getting some rest and that you’re doing well in the busy-ness of the holiday season!

Happy Holidays to you as well!

  • litlove says:

Just adorable! Our cat does something similar, but with a bit less charm. 🙂 I love beagles – ever since Snoopy, they’ve been my favourite breed of dog. Have wonderful holidays, Oh, with lots of good times and good cheer.

    • oh says:

Mandy – thanks and same to you and yours! and we want to hear all about your christmas day and family doings and any plans you might be making to come this way?

Litlove – Cats are so lithe and so…swanky. I’ve never had one, therefore find them kinda magical. As for our beagle, I’ll try to snap a picture of him UNDER our Xmas tree, too! Thanks for the lovely wishes – the same to you,Mr LL and the young LL.
And surely, we will all have a whole day somewhere during the holidays to just read, non?

What a wonderful photo – it’s the “awwwwwww” factor come ’round again! You’re teasing us, though – you’ve been up to something, yes? This sounds like more than Christmas. A book? Some articles? New publications? Or just the busyness of life?

Whatever – lovely to see you here, and to know that you and the four-footed ones are making tracks toward a wonderful celebration!

This is so dear! But I have a feeling the Beagle doesn’t need to explain any absence! ‘Tis the seasosn — oh, yeah. That work thing. That journal class. That wreath-making session (do you have any idea how much I would have loved to be there?) and all the more!

  • shoreacres says:

Every kid needs a toy for Christmas. I’ll bet you’d like the Bronte Sisters Power Dolls!

  • oh says:

Linda – you have me laughing!!!! the Bronte power Dolls! hilarious. As for me, little mystery here. Have been working and we did steal four days to spend in NYC! (HM had to work; I had to play! Yes, there will be pictures.)

Jeanie – Good thing I have that journal class. It helps keep my (writing) head on straight. But little writing going on. No worries; it’s holiday!!!! and can’t resist all the little things that go with it.
And would I ever love to have time at the table with you and SHoreacres and Anno and Bella Rum and Litlove and Mandy and Lisa and Nor (ok, I AM at the table with Nor as I write this, but we have some blog friends in common) and Ruth and DS and well, you get the jist.

Hello to the dear Gypsy; Happy Christmas!

  • ds says:

Ah, the wisdom of the beagle! The cats are becoming agitated, surrounded by crinkly paper, ribbon, and all those enticing boxes. Wait till The Tree arrives. At least one of them will be beneath it at all times.

  • anno says:

oh, this is way too charming! Hope you have a frame ready for this one, and space on the wall to hang it! As for meeting around the table (maybe making wreaths together, or making our own journals)… that is a dream that keeps me going. Hope to see it happen someday soon! Wishing you & your family the merriest of Merry Christmases! Looking forward to following you in 2011!

  • Bella Rum says:

I believe he’s found the peace we all search for this time of year. How cute. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy!

I think the beagle definitely has the right idea! They do say animals are smarter than humans at times 🙂

As I look at all the comments here, I have to smile, because I “know” all these people, some from “book blogging” and the others from “life blogging.” What a nice group of virtual friends I have! How I’d love to gather them all in person sometime…

  • Kathleen says:

Hope you had a wonderful holiday. If that is your beagle, you are very lucky. I just love beagles but have a maltipoo right now instead!
