So, how was your day, hon?

HIM: So, how was your day, love?
HER:  Mmmmm…very nice, very nice.  A bit of this, a bit of that. How about yours?
HIM:  Pretty much the same old, same old.
HER:  Darling…look…who is that over there? Just past the Big Red Tree? See where I mean? I don’t recognize them, do you?
HIM: Oh, I think those are the new neighbors. He seems like a rather upright fellow, but you can’t really tell about her, can you? I mean, if one were to judge by her headdress…
HER: Clearly she’s not from around here. Come on, let’s go say hello, and welcome them to the neighborhood.
HIM: Now? really? Shouldn’t we change, spiff up a bit?
HER:  (laughs) You look fine, my love. Come on, let’s invite them over for a bit of wine, yes? Just do that charming smile of yours.
HIM: How can I ever say no to you and your remarkable feathers?
HER: Why would you want to?

And so Friday night kicks off with a little peace and love.

Ha ha! Truly remarkable feathers–who would ever want to say no?

  • Bree says:

hahaha. Made me chuckle. Thanks 🙂

  • RL says:

Funny dialog for sure. The dead speak! You are continuing to find your stride with the pen/keypad/typewriter…..

DS – In terms of an intersesting job, I’d have to allude to the employee at Missouri Botanical Garden who created these Mayan type headdresses for the mannequins at the recent garden show! Geez, imagine doing the research adn then finding the stuff and putting it all together? there were 10 Mayan “dressed” mannequins at the Orchid show. Now THAT’s a cool job, non?

hi, Bree – The couple who are “speaking” in this blog entry were designated as the Royal Couple – yet others in the exhibit were wonderfully feathered and decorated as well. Different time, startlingly different culture.

RL – thanks for your comment! I wonder if their dialogue those hundreds of years ago would be that much different in terms of topic than are some suburban conversations now?

    You are tooooo funny.
    Happy Friday!

  • Jade says:

    Very funny!
    Lovely photo as well.
    🙂

  • Bella Rum says:

Quite a handsome couple. They must be from Glen Burnie – a suburb of Baltimore. They say “Hon” a lot there.

    • oh says:

Hi, Q – thanks for stopping by! Don’t you wonder what couples talked about, casually, when not worrying about food or water? It’s the stuff of a million stories.

Thanks, Jade! Not sure a Mayan royal couple would be concerned at all with neighbors, but hey, why not?

Bella – You made ME laugh! I am very familiar with Geln Burnie (have family there) and they DO say “hon” – good grief, that’s funny. I’d forgotten.

What’s so funny is that in my Berkeley years that wouldn’t have been funny – or even remarkable.

  • oh says:

Dear Shore – You were at Berkeley? Oh, we MUST get together for a cool drink and chat. I know, we mention it from time to time. I may have a lot more free time very soon, however. As for the feathers, I still love them … wondering if you have pictures from B days?

  • jeanie says:

My kind of Friday! Sounds like a delightful evening with a companion who has the same wit and charm as you! Could it get better? I think not. (Unless that couple DID join you for a glass of wine!)

  • Care says:

LOVE IT! Welcome to the neighborhood. 🙂
