Word to the wise …

If you are busy (read that “stressed”) and decide to reach for food, no, not food – cookies! – I must advise avoiding the LU’s Le Petit Ecolier cookies. They just don’t put enough of them in the box (only 12) and you’ll fall in love and you won’t want to share.

However…
Those of you fascinated by the marriage of chocolate and peanut butter must also attend the marvelous marriage of milk  or  semi-sweet smooth gorgeous chocolate topping a perfect buttery shortbread. Those of you fond of licking fillings from between two trite cookie shells need not read further. Those who don’t eat cookies at all, well, you’re fortunate to avoid the pitfalls of cookie calories but you are truly missing out on dessert delicacies. These cookies could go on a menu in a rather nice restaurant. Along with some iced milk.

Today I don’t care about the milk. And I’m glad that when HM brought these cookies home last Friday, I saw them and marked it well where he put them in the cupboard. As did my nephew and the other three “kids” that were here all weekend. But while they were all “WIIing” in the family room, I stole the cookies and marched the narrow box to my room.

I love the extra dark but you can go light, with the milk chocolate. Lovely, just a tad sweeter.

Yes, duly note that these cookies will turn you into a stealth cookie eater. I am keeping “my” box here in the master suite. Stop it; this is no time for lectures on food, fitness, eating in or near your bed, etc.

I have five assignments due this Friday.
My day job was fraught with drama, to be continued tomorrow.
My kitchen is slowly regaining some order but only I seem to know where things are (I LIKE that!)
OK, I’m not stressing, just trying to organize.
And have a moment.

The LU cookies are perfect for such moments in my room at my desk near the window, looking out into the greenery, one cookie “underway” with its crisp-smoothness (there are 3 ample bites per cookie) and my eye on the tray that holds the remaining cookies.

The cookie’s name comes from the imprint of an “old-fashioned” schoolboy in the chocolate. I mean I guess that’s what it’s all about. The picture is of a kid with a Buster Brown type hat on, an outfit and a cape, and he’s carrying a basket. Where do we see such schoolboys these days? I dunno.  They are a product of France.

For a treat, yup, it even tops my own homemade brownies.
There’s magic in that chocolate, no, in the shortbread, no, the chocolate, no…alors, tous les deux!!!

Bon appetit!images
